GABA Programs & Competitions

Introductory Programs

Aussie Hoops is a national program which provides an environment where children of all abilities can achieve on the court, develop skills, enhance self-esteem, learn about teamwork and participation.

Aussie Hoops introduces children to basketball in a structured and accredited environment that connects our game from grassroots to elite levels.

Our program consists of warm-up games, skill activities, and modified games, all delivered by accredited coaches.

To find out when our next Aussie Hoops program is running, visit our Upcoming Events page for all the details.

Junior Competition

Junior competitions at GABA run all year long, giving young hoopers plenty of chances to sharpen their skills and make new friends.

Once you register and join one of our Junior Clubs, you’ll be placed in an age appropriate division (from U8 right through to U18), so every game feels fair and fun. As a member, you’ll enjoy:

  • Weekly fixtures at Activewest Stadium, so you always have something to look forward to.

  • Accredited coaching sessions that focus on teamwork, fundamentals, and confidence.

  • Special events like skills challenges, mini-tournaments, and club socials.

Signing up is easy - just pick a club, complete a simple online registration, and you’re all set to hit the court with a supportive team behind you.

Senior Competition

Senior competitions are run in Summer and Winter at the GABA. We have competitions including men’s, women’s, and veterans. Games are run on weeknights at Activewest Stadium. There’s a competition for any skill level, age, or team – visit the PlayHQ website to find more information or register your interest with a club for next season.

With divisions spanning everything from social “just for fun” tiers to highly contested premier grades, you can join a squad that matches your experience and goals. Each weeknight fixture at Activewest Stadium features certified referees, official standings, and the chance to hang around after your game with canteen food and good company.

Fees are affordable, registration is simple, and clubs are eager to welcome new players of all backgrounds. Ready to lace up your sneakers?

For more information, submit your Expression of Interest form below, and we’ll point you towards a club and division that’s right for you.

Developmental Programs

The GABA offers a variety of programs for a range of abilities. These programs can be a great introduction to the sport or can serve as extra tuition for players looking to take their game to the next level.

From beginner fundamentals clinics - where you’ll learn dribbling, shooting, and teamwork in a fun, supportive setting - to advanced small group workshops that focus on position specific drills, game IQ and strength conditioning, there’s something for every player.

Led by our accredited coaches, sessions run on weekday evenings and weekends to accommodate school and work schedules, ensuring you receive regular practice, personalised feedback, and a clear pathway to improvement.

To learn more about our upcoming development programs, visit our Upcoming Events page for more details.

Representative Teams

We have a range of Junior and Senior GABA representative teams competing in high level Basketball WA competitions, including the BWA State Championships and BWA Country Championships.

Whether you’re aiming to showcase your talent on the big stage or simply want to push yourself in a supportive, performance driven environment, our representative squads offer expert coaching, regular training sessions, and the chance to test your skills against the best in WA.

Volunteering with a representative team is also a fantastic way to stay involved - we’re always looking for assistant coaches, statisticians, team managers and event coordinators to keep our programs running smoothly.

If you would like to try out or volunteer for a GABA representative team, please complete the Expression of Interest form below, and one of our coordinators will be in touch with all the details.
